Italia Italiano is a bi-monthly educational magazine conceived to offer two things to
learners of Italian as a non-native language: a learning tool designed to improve their knowledge of
Italian, and an up-to-date profile of the country where Italian is spoken.
All articles in Italia Italiano are at intermediate-advanced level. They provide a portrait of
contemporary Italy: how it is, how it is evolving and by what it is inspired. Each issue covers a
wide range of topics, from current affairs to national surveys on the country's main social trends,
profiles of prominent public figures, news on sports events, exhibitions, concerts and other significant
cultural activities. Eight articles on contemporary Italy which offer an up-to-date overview of the country's
main trends, one for each of the following categories: Current Affairs, News Stories, Society & Politics,
Science & Technology, Public Figures, Hidden Italy, Arts & Entertainment, Sports.
Pre- and post-reading activities accompany each article. These are designed to improve learners' reading
comprehension skills, broaden their lexical knowledge and provide topics of conversation on contemporary Italy.
A recording for each article is also available. This is a particularly useful tool which allows learners to
listen to the correct pronunciation and improve their listening skills. The magazine also contains a
monolingual glossary and the answer keys for all activities.
The authors of Italia Italiano are Damiano Vezzosi, a professional journalist, and Gessica De Angelis,
a specialist in second/ third or additional language acquisition and foreign language education.
Both are native speakers of Italian.
